West Ham United granted permission for London Stadium capacity increase
West Ham United is delighted to confirm that planning permission has been granted to increase the matchday capacity at London Stadium to 62,500.

With an extra 2,500 seats to be released once the safety certificate application has been completed, West Ham United will be able to once again look forward to breaking the Club’s attendance record and welcoming more of our loyal supporters to Hammers matches.

We appeal to more people now.

People feel more comfortable bringing their families along.

Youngsters want to come with their mates cos they can go to Westfield before and after the game.

The transport links.

The Railway is the wrong side of Westfield for me.

Done the Railway a couple times recently, including Wednesday and it was fairly quiet compared to prior lockdown when it was alway ramed. Its a big pub and plenty of room outside if people want it.

Haven't been in the railway yet but will look to give it a go at some point.

Whilst for the most part I thought it would come good over the LS and saw the potential, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had the odd brief wobble as to whether it actually might not.

Apart from the obvious feel good factor of playing so well and flying of late, it has been the fact that the west ham I know and love appears to be very much alive n kicking, which has been the best bit. It being my boy's first few games, as well as my 10 old daughter completely getting what it is all about, has been the icing on the cake.

Yes, the vast improvement could perhaps only be because we're flying at the moment but it feels like more than that.

The ones at Upton Park were completely shit in the end.

I ended up drinking in the Overdraft at East Ham cos there was nowhere decent left.

The boozers are a definite improvement on what we had at Upton Park.

Agree us flying has no doubt helped but about time we had something to cheer!

The Driver is a decent old skool boozer and reminds me a little of the Stanley come to mention it. Look forward to maybe catching up in there at some point.

I'll try and listen out for this clappy thing - you and the old man are more than welcome to squeeze in with us if it becomes unbearable. Thats another thing over that reminds me of my bit in the old BML...seems to 2 for every seat in and around us of late, so have been some decent 'scenes when we've scored!

We do go in the Driver, one of the best pubs about and a load of the old Stanley lot used to get in there so yeah be good to have a beer again at some point.

I think the clapping thing is an upper tier thing, it ripples round. Winds my Dad up something chronic.

The people going there these days certainly seem more “football” since Covid which is helping.

As is us flying in the pitch.

Johnson

I get where you coming from about the songs being a bit samey but do think it has come on leaps and bounds post COVID. Has been a decent a mix of old and new ones sung in block 113.

There has also been plenty of good wit has been one of the main things that has made it feel more like it used to be. Sure, some of its childish but I'm middle aged now and the older lot used to say that about my lot's humour when we were in our late teens/early 20s, so think it's just a getting older thing.

Can't say I've heard the clapping with no singing. Does sound a bit pony but again, could just be us older lot getting out of touch.

Whilst I'm loving where I am in block 113 (view, proximity to away mob and said wit n atmosphere) I do also like the look of the TBL - right next to the away fans. Has looked proper lively at times this season and appears to have a good mob forming.

Can't guage fully from where I am (definitely one of shittier things about the LS) but the BML has looked decent as well, especially the intentisty of the celebrations when we score (always a good indicator of how good an atmosphere is in a particular section of a ground).

And that is another one of the things I have noticed this season - there seems to be a few sections of the ground where it is a good craic to be. I'd go as far to say, that seat for seat there are
more than there were at UP towards it's end.

Can't really be bothered get into a back and forth with you on here as to why I think you never hold your hands up, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. That said, happy to chat over a beer in the Driver if you're ever in there. Who knows, maybe we'd both get to understand a bit better where the other is coming from.

Claret and Hugh saying last night saw 5,000 tickets sold to supporters with an UP ticket history that hadn’t been to the LS before.

Seeing as stadiums cannot sing, not a lot I wouldn't have thought.

What's your point?

“It can be loud, for sure, but it's all gone a bit samey with the songs don't you think?”

And what’s that got to do with the stadium?

Johnson 8:27 Thu Oct 28
Re: West Ham United granted permission for London Stadium capacity increase
I was at two of the three - midweeks are a fucking ag although they were at UP so not the OS's fault.

It can be loud, for sure, but it's all gone a bit samey with the songs don't you think?

We even seem to have this odd clapping thing now that people do with no song, that gets an airing a couple of times a game and pissed me off as it is muggy, stand up etc gets sung as does bubbles and Antonio if he scores.

The spontaneity and wit of chants or random shouts has gone a bit though, so it depends what folk want from an atmosphere. For me it is more than just being loud though.

I was a BML Chicken Run and Chav Corner STH for donkeys so probably spoiled in that regard.

But as I said, it is getting better - the Leicester game was great as was Ys on Sunday considering they are notoriously quiet anyway and Chelsea in the cup a few seasons back was great.

I am upper tier at the moment but trying to move to the BML as it does look jumping and young woody tells me it is decent.

Got an ST again in anticipation of those fucking cunts selling up but they've not gone yet. Could only get upper tier but actually we have pretty decent seats.

Pro tip: Get seats on the corner flags as the views are good and you don't feel miles away as you don't notice the GAPS - just don't look to your left or right.

PML was better until we had to wait 30 mins for Leicester and I nearly missed my train back to the car in Didcot but slipping in the Stratford queue rather than go west helps with that.

I'm not going to lie and say it is fucking amazing when I don't think it is, but I also don't feel the need to have to go I was wrong because I think it is improving and I'm enjoying it more.

Wrong about what? It has been fucking shit over there and every home game someone somewhere has a moan up about queuing, stewarding or pricing so clearly folk are not happy BUT I wouldn't go if I wasn't enjoying it more.

I'm just not buying that all the faults over there are gone just because we're doing well.

As I said I shouldn't be criticised for saying it was raining yesterday because it is sunny today as it might rain again tomorrow, that seems a very warped way of framing discussion and also gifts the always happy bods with some made up gift of clairvoyance - NO ONE knew how it would pan out but it certainly wasn't looking good for a few seasons.

Even the most ardent OSers have admitted that to me over the last few years.

It is getting better is as good as it going to get from me at the moment, but that's better than saying it is fucking shit surely which is what I used to say?!
